Race Recap – Spring 2021
With races making a fast comeback to CT, lots of SoundRUNNERS have been out conquering the trails, track & roads. Recent race results include:
Miles on the Mohawk Marathon: Stephen Paddock – 1st Place 2:25:52!
Rocky Hill 5k: Nick Dalidowitz – 2nd 18:23; Bruce Christensen – 8th 20:43
CT Master’s Games: 1500- Anthony Gonsalves – 1st 4:44
Cayuga 50K: Megan Pagliuco – 4th Female 5:56
Run Ragged Last Man Standing: Ken Berardi – 5th Place 24 hours/75 Miles
Newport Rhode Races 5k: Cory Loftis – 1st Place 16:34
Marlborough Race Around the Lake: 5k: John Minervino 3rd AG

Traprock 50k: Rachael Whitbeck – 1st Female, 5:35 (Course Record!); Megan Pagliuco – 6th Female 6:45
Providence Half Marathon: Stephen Paddock – 1:11 6th Overall
Cinco K Mayo 5k – Enfield: William Sanders – 15:31 – 1st; Bruce Christensen – 20:28 – 12th; John Minervino – 21:12 – 14th
Miles for Margaritas: Ken Berardi – 19:31 4th overall

Next up for the SoundRUNNER team is the first USATF Grand Prix race of 2021 – Branford Road Race on June 20th.
Race Recap: Fischang-Cicchetti Memorial Road Race
Likely the last CT road race of the year, several Soundrunners took advantage of the opportunity and jumped in to participate in the Fischang-Cicchetti Memorial Road Race this past weekend.

Winning the Men’s race was Will Sanders, completing the 5-mile course in 24:54, claiming victory by 30 seconds. Michael Waterbury finished in 3rd place in 27:15. John Minervino grabbed 3rd in his age group in 33:15.
On the Women’s side, Sybil Sanders finished 1st (and 6th overall) in a speedy 28:56, covering 5 miles in well under 6:00 pace. Katie Esposito ran to a first place finished in the 18-29 category in 31:55; and Lori Marcantonio claimed her age group with a 32:07.
With road races temporarily on hold in CT; we’ll see what creative opportunities the team will come up with next!
Race Recap: SoundRunners Take Top Spots in Andover

Andover, CT – Club Members returned to the local scene competing at the Andover Lake 5k/5 Miler. In the 5k SoundRunners took four of the first five spots. Taking the overall title was Nicholas Migani in 16:38, with Anthony Gonsalves in the runner up spot in 17:00. Carolyn Nye was the top female and fourth overall in 18:05 Finishing as the top master and fifth over was Neal Leibowitz in 19:51.

Later on in the day, the 5 Miler was held on a road course. Bruce Christensen finished fourth in 33:12.

Also in Litchfield, a few runner also attacked the hills at the Hillacious Half Marathon. John Minervino finished 11th at 1:37:02. Elisabeth Wright finished as the 7th female (39th overall) in 1:55:55

More Fall Racing & Pub Runs!
Despite the pandemic, it was another busy weekend for the Soundrunner racing team! In a Track 5k in New Canaan, Liz Campbell claimed victory in a speedy 18:09, along with fellow lady Soundrunners Sybil Sanders, Amanda Morgan and Mary Johnson!

On Sunday, the Escape the Notch half Marathon and Marathon saw two outstanding performances by husband and wife team Will & Sybil Sanders. Will claimed the marathon victory in 2:39; while his speedy wife took home 5th in a competitive elite half marathon with a time of 1:23 (the day after racing a fast 5K!) John Minervino had a solid performance, clocking a 1:30 half, and Keith Coburn rocking a 1:53! Full Results Here
